NZCC 2013 Blog Challenge Day 20 – Passions
Three of my passions are:
1. 1950’s cars and style. What a beautiful time:
2. Classic arcade games:
3. Gadgets and new technology:

The Harlem Globetrotters are hitting town in June, bringing back memories of Dad taking me and my brother to see them as a kid. You can check out The Harlem Globetrotters at the TSB Stadium, on the 28 May 2013.
Herbert “Flight Time” Lang @datrotter4 is coming to New Plymouth to promote the event, so we’ve replaced the lamps and made sure the balls are pumped up in the basketball machine at the cinema.
Sure, he can do this:
but can he do this?
(I can’t do either but don’t tell Flight Time – I’ve challenged him to a game on Twitter :))
@datrotter4 When you’re in New Plymouth I will challenge you to a game on the basketball machine at the cinema.

NZCC 2013 Blog Challenge Day 16 A country you haven’t visited but would like to:
The United Kingdom. Specialist jukebox restorers The Jukebox Shop would be a great work trip 🙂 Check out some of the jukeboxes they have restored below:
NZCC 2013 Blog Challenge Day 15 – 10 random facts:
- Members of the 0800 Jukebox crew are involved in local shows both on stage and off.
- We’ve seen the roof space of nearly every pub and bar in Taranaki.
- We travel Taranaki-wide (Normanby Dairy has the best yoghurt ice creams).
- Our average jukebox weighs 300 pounds.
- Our workshop is home to 1 1/2 Berkeleys.
- We replaced the GMC motor ourselves.
- Our staff room has seen the successful completion of the cinnamon challenge.
- We also service pinball, pokie, and arcade machines.
- We import, install, and use tail lifters to ensure our jukeboxes (and backs!) stay safe.
- We started in Hawera more than thirty years ago (back then we were known as Quickshotz Amusements).

NZCC 2013 Blog Challenge Day 13 – Worst Job/Best Job/Dream Job:
Worst Job
Pulling out old, neglected effluent pumps as an apprentice electrician was heinous.
Testing new products for Google would be pretty sweet.

NZCC 2013 Blog Challenge Day 12 – Favourite thing:
It has to be our 1700f Wurlitzer! Produced in 1954, this model was Wurlitzer’s first true 45rpm jukebox. It marked the start of the jukebox industry as we know it today.
The machine holds 52 records (that’s 104 selections) and the “f” means it’s a later edition, “Hi-Fidelity.” A fantastic sounding machine with Cobra cartridge and valve amplifier playing through a 15″ loudspeaker.
We purchased this in the 80’s and have done some restoration work (some more is needed). It’s still a beautiful jukebox, and definitely one of our favourite things!

NZCC 2013 Blog Challenge Day 11 – Weird Habit
At work I’ll go out of my way to find the correct case for a CD. I MUST have CDs back in their correct cases! If there’s a mismatched CD & case it drives me nuts. But that’s not the weird part.
Because when I get home it’s a free for all…
