Nick Cave was once spotted on a London tube train writing a letter using the blood in a hypodermic syringe he’d just ripped from his arm. Has the man never heard of a biro?

The change in name follows a battle with former drummer Shelton Woolright over rights to the band’s name. Woolright left Blindspott following the band’s break up in 2007 and is now a member of the UK based I Am Giant. A case has been set down for hearing in Auckland District Court on March 24 to determine if the band can use the name.
Blindspott lead singer Damian Alexander said attempts of “a resolution of any goodwill” had failed and he and fellow band members, Marcus Powell, Gareth Fleming, Karl Vilisini and Tristan Reilly, were taking court action “reluctantly”.
“It sucks actually. We’re doing this for the love of the music and for our fans…We want to keep contributing to NZ in some way, it’s very humbling and we just want to keep doing it…”

Several locks of Justin Bieber’s hair are being sold on internet auction site eBay by Ellen DeGeneres for charity. The auction is due to close 2 March (Mar 02, 2011 10:32:26 PST) so get your bids biebes in!
The pop star recently had his famous locks cut and they are now listed on the internet auction site with the current top bid well over $10,000
The locks are being sold by Ellen DeGeneres who received some of his hair – which is encased in a Plexiglas box that has been signed by the ‘Baby’ singer – as a gift when he appeared on her talk show this week.
As he handed the strands over to Ellen – who had previously written on her twitter page that she wanted some of his hair – he said: “That’s my hair. I’m giving pieces of it to different people. We’re doing something special. We want you to donate it to whatever charity you want to.”
Ellen is donating all proceeds from the auction to animal rescue foundation The Gentle Barn.
Justin decided to change his trademark hairstyle ahead of his 17th birthday next Tuesday (01.03.11).

The beverage brand and the rapper now have a long-term partnership for emerging artists from Eminem’s Shady Records’ roster. As a result of the new deal, Brisk and Shady Records will host a series of artist events throught the year. Later in 2011, the two companies plan to produce several large-scale live music events.
The first Brisk-Shady Records event took place at New York City’s Highline Ballroom this past Tuesday, Feb. 9 and celebrated the long-anticipated signing of hip-hop supergroup Slaughterhouse to Eminem’s label.
Slaughtehouse — Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce da 5’9″ — was featured on “Session One,” a bonus track on Eminem’s “Recovery.” The group will release its second album later this year.
Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s manager, said in a statement that his client believed both writing his own Super Bowl spot and creating a new marketing platform for Shady Records was a “great opportunity to do something creative and fun.”
To wit, the creative agency behind the Super Bowl spot, Mekanism, inserted 14 “Easter Eggs” (hidden gems) within the TV ad. For all your hardcore Eminem heads, see how many eggs you can find in the ad below before reading what they are (listed beneath the video):
Easter Eggs Answers:
– Alley = 8 mile reference
– Trunk gag =slim shady LP cover
– Infinity sticker on dumpster = “infinite” album (Em’s first album)
– License plate says Eminem
– Em’s club dance = inspired by his moves from video “Without Me”
– Trailers= reference to trailer park white trash roots/8mile
– Basement Sound Booth = ref to Basemint Productions (his first group)
– Stan = Stan the song
– Portapotty = Eminem has said often that he finds his best inspiration on the toilet
– 12 steps he walks down= (reference to “Recovery”)
– Does a “gun cock” move during rap from “Not Afraid”
– Skyline = inspired by the skyline from the “Not Afraid” video
– Shady Poo = refers to Slim Shady
– Eminem is left handed, so is the Eminem puppet

Neil Diamond’s upcoming Wellington concert has been cancelled due to the lack of a suitable indoor venue, promoters say. [Rumor has it that it was actually due to poor sales.]
Diamond was to perform in Wellington on March 4.
A statement released by the event’s promoters cited “unforeseen production and logistical challenges associated with staging Neil Diamond’s full show outdoors” as the reason for the cancellation.
Online tickets will be automatically refunded. Tickets bought over the counter can be refunded at the point of purchase.
Diamond will still perform at Auckland’s Vector Arena on February 26 and 28. New allocations of tickets have been released for both shows.
What do you think is “unforeseen production and logistical blaa blaa outdoor blaa blaa…” a good reason to cancel a show that was always going to be outside?
